September 3, 2026
Thursday 3 September. The national PI liter is $27.02 at 08:00, unchanged vs Wednesday, and 81.50% IEPS expires tomorrow Friday: put a fuel clause in place before you cost 5–11. Today FIX is still N/E until 12:00; the last set print is $16.9852 from 2 September. Finance settles obligations at $16.9755, four centavos under yesterday. World Trade opened at 5 minutes on the CBP feed (08:25 capture); the typical range is still 30–45, do not dispatch on last night’s 45. Cass 0.983 and heavy-vehicle retail 3,043 did not move: the American backhaul does not cheapen.
Editorial interpretation by OCL Cargo using public data. Not financial, tax, investment, or dispatch advice.
A briefing that mixes this morning FIX with a July port cycle without saying so lies by layout. Here is the split by the age of the print, not by when we happened to look at it.

Today the daily fields are typed by hand each morning on the America/Mexico_City cut. The script already exists and queries Banxico SIE, EIA, and the open CBP feed, but it only writes a proposal file: if a query fails the field is marked “check” instead of keeping yesterday value under today date.

Table notes
Prices has no row here on purpose: diesel moves daily, IEPS every Friday, and FIX every business day. A “month vs month” for those three would be an average nobody publishes. Their honest comparison lives in block 2.
2 · Prices
Why this hits your P&L
Diesel, IEPS, FX, and tolls are the part of your cost that moves without warning. IEPS changes every Friday and FIX every business day: if your contract does not reprice at that frequency, you are absorbing the volatility, not your customer.

Read the bar, not only the percentage: your quota fell from $3.63 to $1.36 in seven weeks and rose twice. Compare it with the $2.14 average. If this week sits under the average, do not cut the rate: Friday can reverse the cut.

Five business days published in the Banxico SIE. Scale fitted to range, not zeroed.
Why it matters: imported diesel, the U.S. leg, and factoring are paid in dollars. How to read it: 3 September FIX is still N/E until 12:00; the last set print is $16.9852 from 2 September and that is what the DOF publishes today. Settling obligations payable in Mexico today uses $16.9755. They are not the same figure. Close USD commitments only with a plan if the pair breaks $17.20.
Ranked high to low · pesos for the full run
Durango–Mazatlán and Tepic–Mazatlán charge over $3,400 for a C9 unit. On a 900 km haul that is almost four pesos per kilometer in tolls alone, before diesel. Quote the Pacific at the same base rate as the Bajío and tolls will eat the margin.

Why this hits your P&L
Demand decides whether you negotiate from scarcity or from surplus. Falling volume against steady capacity means the customer asks for a discount before you ask for an increase: walk into that meeting knowing what Cass printed and what crossed at Laredo.

4 · Supply
Why this hits your P&L
Every truck that does not sell is a competitor that never enters the market. Fewer new units and unfilled seats hold the rate floor; when the lot fills with zero-kilometre trucks, the floor drops. This is where you decide to buy equipment or hold another year.

5 · Constraints
Why this hits your P&L
A stopped unit does not bill and still costs. Every extra hour at customs or on the bridge is detention, a missed appointment, and a driver paid for not moving freight; and theft is not priced off the national average, it is priced off the corridor you run. This is exposure, not context.

Cargo security
Premium, escort, and stop protocol are priced by corridor, not by the national headline. Two states hold three of every four reports: if your fleet enters the northern Edomex ring or the Puebla–Mexico City corridor, your exposure does not look like the country average.
Reports fell 19.4% in the first half, but two states held 73.4% of the total: State of Mexico 1,266 and Puebla 584 of 2,519 nationally. The national drop does not cover you if your corridor is one of those two.

Manzanillo 12 h 50 min
The national cycle went from 6 h 34 min in June to 11 h 50 min in July. Manzanillo broke; Veracruz held at 7 h 13 min. This is July, not today: add slack to the yard appointment.

More indicators and context
It sits down here and closed for a reason: none of these numbers moves a quote, a dispatch, a fuel surcharge, or your risk exposure this week. They are for the budget meeting, not for today. Each one still carries its source and its date.

July 2026
USD 81,420.0 M
Manufacturing is 76,306 of 81,420 million: nine of every ten dollars. Agriculture fell 8.6% y/y and oil is 2.4%. The record is not the whole sector, it is the plant.

USD 76,306 M
up+45.7%year over year
July set a record at 76,306 million, +45.7% y/y. The engine is non-auto (+64.9%); auto grew just +2.4%. If your fleet lives on auto parts, the headline is not yours.

USD 82,268 M
up+45.0%year over year
82,268 million in July, +45.0% y/y, above exports. 82% of the month is intermediate goods. That is port-to-plant freight, not plant-to-Laredo.

16,466 million, +2.4% y/y against +64.9% for the rest of manufacturing. To the United States +3.7%; to the rest of the world -3.9%. The auto corridor is flat, not booming.

54.6 in August, eighth month above 50, but -1.0 point vs July and new orders fell from 56.7 to 53.7. Still expanding and cooling. Do not add capacity on a single print.

Freight tolls without a cited C9 schedule
check CAPUFE
Mexico–Toluca, Monterrey–Nuevo Laredo, and Guadalajara–Manzanillo have no C9 we can sign today. Check Traza tu ruta (SICT/CAPUFE) before you cost.
Load-to-truck / spot tightness
not published
There is no Mexican or Laredo print we can cite. We do not invent a ratio. The honest proxy is BTS crossings + IMEF + parked trucks.
Rail intermodal / CPKC
not published
Ferromex and CPKC do not release a public weekly dwell or volume we can sign. If a bulletin appears, it lands here. Until then there is no chart.

Open the freight rate finderA daily cut for anyone who dispatches or pays freight in Mexico and across the U.S. border. Today carries Banxico FIX, pump diesel, this week IEPS, and the lights. The quarter carries demand, cost, money, capacity, border, and ports. Every figure carries a unit, a date, and a source. Every card explains why it matters this morning and how to read the latest print. This is not a trading terminal and not a quote.
Each morning we publish a snapshot with Banxico and diesel. Friday afternoon we append the DOF IEPS accord. The economic dashboard moves when the source publishes: INEGI, EIA, IMEF, ANPACT, BTS, ITPAP. If a figure is not confirmed, we mark it check or not published. If a series is not complete, we do not chart it.
The Mexican liter is the PETROIntelligence average ($27.02 on 3 September at 08:00). It is not your station. IEPS in force is 81.50% through Friday 4: Hacienda absorbs $6.0012 and you pay $1.3622. One stimulus point is about eight centavos. The EIA gallon (USD 5.599 national, USD 5.360 Gulf Coast) is the American leg. Quote Laredo–Texas on the Gulf, not on the Querétaro liter.
There are three numbers and they do not mix. 3 September FIX is still N/E until 12:00; the last set print is $16.9852 from 2 September and that is what the DOF publishes today. The rate for obligations payable in Mexico today is $16.9755. The last signed interbank session (2 Sep) sits near $17.03. Finance settles on the payments rate, not the headline FIX. One centavo on 100 thousand dollars is a thousand pesos.
World Trade typically runs 30–45 minutes in the general lane and about 22 minutes in FAST. Colombia usually runs faster (9–30 min). The dispatch threshold is 45 minutes: past that the window slips. These are typical ranges, not this minute. Before you roll, open bwt.cbp.gov. Nogales and Pharr are marked check: we do not sign a typical we cannot stand behind.
The C9 ranking is what moves cost per kilometre. Durango–Mazatlán and Tepic–Mazatlán charge over $3,400 per unit. Mexico–Querétaro and Mexico–Puebla are the daily center lanes. Mexico–Toluca, Monterrey–Nuevo Laredo, and Guadalajara–Manzanillo have no C9 we can cite today: check CAPUFE Traza tu ruta.
We name them the way the search index stores them, not with desk nicknames.
This page refreshes each morning on the America/Mexico_City cut. FIX, DOF, IEPS, INEGI, and SESNSP are official; PETROIntelligence, Cass, IMEF, and chamber estimates are market references, and every card says which is which. The economic dashboard and the CEO read are editorial interpretation by OCL Cargo over public data: they are not financial, tax, investment, or dispatch advice, they are not a hedging recommendation, and they are not a freight quote. Pump diesel and border waits are averages or typical ranges: confirm at your station and on CBP. Highways without a confirmed incident today are marked check. This does not replace CAPUFE, GN, Banxico, the DOF, INEGI, or your Finance desk.
If FX or diesel is moving your cost, the next step is to audit what you already paid.
We tell you if you are overpaying, with a file. Pilot in 6–8 weeks.
